Heike Katharina Schmidt
Heike has been has been practicing Yoga since 1995 and started teaching classical Hatha Yoga 2001. After she took her first Ashtanga Class in 2001 she went almost every winter to Mysore to study with Pattabhi Jois. She received authorization by him in 2007. In 2008 she opened her own yoga studio in Cologne, Germany where she started a morning Mysore programme. She has taught numerous students, not only in her own studio but also as guest teacher in Thailand, Cambodia and Australia.
Because of hip-osteoarthritis she rediscovered swimming, a sport of her youth. She was introduced to the Shaw Method “Art of Swimming” which was a complete game-changer in terms of front crawl. Discovering how much the smooth way of swimming and the practice of yoga complement each other, she did the training with Steven Shaw and started to teach and offer the unique format of Yoga-Swim-Retreats.
Kathrin Lamm
Kathrin Lamm discovered swimming as an adult (in an Ashtanga Yoga retreat on Crete), drawn not by competition but by curiosity — a desire to move with ease, awareness, and harmony in the water. What began as exploration grew into a deep passion for understanding how body and water work together. Now a certified Shaw Method instructor, Kathrin supports adults to find confidence, freedom, and enjoyment in swimming. Her teaching is calm, mindful, and supportive, creating space for both grounding and lightness. Based in Hamburg, Germany, Kathrin finds her greatest joy in those quiet moments when a student floats, glides, or swims freely for the first time. She enjoys teaching with Heike, her former Yoga teacher, because it always shows the magic of this wonderful combination of Yoga and Shaw Method swimming.
