Frizzi Maniglio
Francesca Maniglio, aka Frizzi, was born in Genoa. She graduated in philosphy at the University of Milan. Her interest for Indian philosophy began in these years.
Between 1996 and 2007 she works as a filmmaker in NYC and Italy, obtaning grants and awards both in the US and Italy. In 1999, while living in NYC, she meets ‘yoga’ in an open class held by David Life, founder and director with Sharon Gannon, of the Jivamukti yoga school & method. She spends a year practicing at the Jivamukti yoga center.
Through regular practice, she discovers the mind and body benefits and the spiritual power produced when the energy starts to flow freely through the body.
In 2007 this transformation leads her to relocate in the south of Italy and open the yoga retreat center YIS, Yoga In Salento. In 2007 she also enrolls in a 3 year Ashtanga vinyasa yoga teacher training, under the guidance of yoga teacher Giuliano Vecchié. She has Yoga Alliance RYT 200 hour certification both from AYBO (Ashtanga Yoga Bologna) and the Yoga School of Prague.
From 2004 up to today she has been practicing and studying yoga with the best teachers around the globe: Sri Pattabhi Jois, BNS Iyengar, Mark Darby, Sharon Gannon and David Life, Maju Jois, David Swenson, Louise Ellis, Tina Pizzimenti and Lino Miele, David Williams.
She is constantly deepening her teaching skills through regular practice, passionate study of the holy texts and participating to workshops and intensives with the most qualified teachers.
Every year, during the retreats that she organizes, inviting highly qualified teachers, she participates with enthusiasm and devotion to the yoga sessions.
She teaches and practices regulary, all year long, with humbolness, love and attention, passing on with generosity what she has learned with gratitude and joy.
