YIS soulful Yoga Community is blossoming in the heart of Salento.
We nurture physical health and promote spiritual growth. The aspiration of YIS is to contribute to the well-being of all that lives: land, animals and people. At its essence, YIS exists to honour the divine in our students, teachers, staff and neighbours.
We cultivate a way of life where peace, joy and friendship are celebrated as the very essence of who we are. We are not a body, we have a body. Through the practice of yoga we purify and celebrate the body: the body is the temple of our soul.

We cultivate a way of life where peace, joy, love for nature and friendship are celebrated as the very essence of who we are. We are not a body, we have a body. Through the practice of yoga we purify and celebrate the body: the body is the temple of our soul.

Real change starts within. Latins thought us: learn who you are (gnosci te ipsum).

Ancient Indian texts such as the Upanishads and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras explain Yoga philosophical principles and methods as practices that scientifically develop a deep knowledge of the Self, working toward the attainment of perfection.Indian and Greek ancient philosophies have many common elements; we blend the roots of ancient eastern and western wisdom.

Sri Pattabhi Jois says yoga is 99% practice 1% theory. We practice yoga daily and learn on the yoga mat to better ourselves on and off the mat. The better way out is going in.
The vibrant international community of yogis devoted to bettering their body, mind and spirit, contributes to make even more special our ancient location. We love to see our guests happy, we work constantly to better ourselves, our staff, our location.

ECO-LIVING We strive for a clean and  healthy planet, that’s why we practice and promote a self-sustainable eco-friendly life-style. We love nature, we are children of Mother Earth. We try every day to treat nature with respect and to defend it. We look for eco-sourced materials, we recycle all that we can, and think twice before throwing away something. We differentiate garbage, we create compost with the organic waste. We have a zero waste aspiration.
THE PRACTICE OF AIMSHA The first step in Patanjali’s system of Yoga is Ahimsa, which means the practice of non-harming and non violence. This is the main reason of our vegetarian diet and organic daily choice. We do not eat animals, our dishes are cruelty-free, our vegetable garden is organic, free from pesticides and herbicides.
Our foundation is deeply grounded in the Ashtanga Yoga practice and way of living. We like to convey the broad message of yoga as unity, this is why we treasure, host and welcome different styles and schools of yoga, meditation, self-discovery, self-improvement and healing.
